Marcos Osorio is a community development professional, educator, and first-generation college graduate dedicated to expanding opportunity through education and economic mobility. A proud graduate of California’s community college system, Marcos began his academic journey at community college before transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he studied political science and philosophy. He later earned a Master’s in Education Policy and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington.

While working his way through school, Marcos spent nearly a decade working in expanded learning programs supporting students and families, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges many working families face and the important role educational programs play in shaping opportunity for young people.

Marcos is also a father of two and stays actively involved in his children’s education through school activities and parent engagement. His experience as a parent gives him a firsthand understanding of the importance of strong schools, supportive programs, and pathways that help students succeed from early education through college.

Professionally, Marcos has spent his career working at the intersection of education, economic development, and community investment. He has worked in schools, nonprofit leadership, and community finance, supporting small businesses and building programs that expand access to capital and training in underserved communities. Today, he works as a consultant advising organizations on grant strategy, program development, and initiatives that strengthen local economies.

Marcos believes community colleges play a critical role in expanding opportunities for working families, first-generation students, and adult learners. His own experience in the community college system shaped his path and reinforced his belief that education should remain accessible, practical, and connected to workforce opportunities.

As a candidate for the State Center Community College District Board, Marcos is focused on strengthening career pathways, supporting student success, and ensuring the district continues to serve the diverse communities of the Central Valley.
